ABOUT
Our Mission: “To help individuals who are struggling with depression, stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues; to learn and grow from past mistakes, overcome barriers that prevents healing, and who are willing to undergo distress with support.”

I have worked in counseling for over 10 years, but I am more than just a licensed mental health counselor - I am an empathic professional. I use Psychoeducation as a simple approach to teach family members problem-solving and communication skills to support prevention of future episodes. I believe in using many tools to help people reach their goals, i.e., CBT, DBT, TF-CBT, Acceptance and letting go, motivational interviewing, and other holistic techniques. But I believe psychoeducation helps deliver behavioral training to
improve illness insight, early symptom identification and development of coping strategies. I have many years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults dealing with trauma, sexual abuse, and substance related issues. For 3 years
I facilitated weekly Chemical Dependency groups at Parkview Behavioral Health Institute. But I also believe it is important to give back to the community in other ways such as home-based services, my faith-based teachings, and volunteering.

In addition to providing counseling, I have also provided staff trainings and student intern clinical supervision at Park Center, Inc. Prior to becoming a mental health counselor, I worked 8 years in various roles in the Fort Wayne Community Schools district. I have given presentations/seminars – in collaboration with a clinical psychologist, volunteering for a SACS
student - to providing a self-esteem classroom presentation. Since 2015, I have taught over 52 courses while serving as an Adjunct Professor in the psychology department at Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

I am currently a member of the Society of Black Mental Health Professionals, and for 3 years I worked in private practice at Oaktree Guidance and Wellness Center. These diverse career experiences have taught me the importance of remembering that one size does not fit all. You can be assured that I will give you the best care.
